Wellborn Windows & Doors: The Pomona Owner’s Guide

Wellborn window and door replacement in Pomona typically runs $4,500-$15,000 for full window replacement and $800-$2,500 for single-unit repairs, with most hardware and sash parts available same-day through our supplier network. We stock Wellborn-compatible balances, locks, hinges, and weatherstripping for the Heritage and Estate series, and we can source Heritage Reserve components within 24 hours. Most Pomona homeowners realize something’s wrong when a window won’t stay open, a door sticks in the frame, or they feel a draft along the sill that wasn’t there last season.

Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn’s window and door lines break into three series, and the parts are not interchangeable between them. The Heritage series uses a block-and-tackle balance system with a 5/8-inch sash cord width; the Estate series switched to a constant-force coil balance in 2014, which means a 2013 Estate window and a 2015 Estate window take different hardware. The Heritage Reserve line, their architectural-grade product, uses European-style multi-point locking hardware with a 92mm handle spindle height - a spec that matters because standard 70mm aftermarket replacements will not seat.

To identify your part, check the etched code in the glass corner (format: WB-YY-MMDD-PLANT) or the sticker on the frame edge. If the sticker’s gone, measure the balance tube diameter and the visible glass width to the nearest 1/16 inch. We carry OEM Wellborn balances and locks, plus truth-tested aftermarket equivalents from Amesbury and Caldwell for Heritage units where the lead time on factory parts runs past what the weather in Pomona will tolerate. Rowan Construction Group Pomona is an independent service provider; we are not affiliated with Wellborn Cabinet, Inc.

Signs Your Wellborn Windows & Doors Is Failing

Signs Your Wellborn Windows & Doors Is Failing
  • The sash drops or won’t stay open. This usually means the balance system has lost tension. In Heritage series units, the block-and-tackle pulley wears where the cord meets the sheave; in Estate series, the coil spring fatigues after roughly 8,000-12,000 cycles, which translates to 7-10 years of normal use in Pomona’s inland climate.
  • You feel drafts at the sill or jamb, even when closed. The compression weatherstripping has taken a set and no longer rebounds. Pomona’s summer heat hardens the bulb edge faster than coastal zones; we’ve replaced stripping on 6-year-old units that should have lasted 12.
  • The lock tongue won’t fully engage, or the handle spins. The multi-point gearbox has stripped a cam, often from forcing the handle while the sash is warped. On Heritage Reserve doors, the 92mm spindle can shear if the door frame has settled and the owner leans on the handle.
  • The door sticks seasonally, worse in summer. The frame has absorbed moisture and expanded, or the sill pan is out of level. In Pomona’s older neighborhoods near the downtown corridor, we’ve seen this where slab-on-grade settlement has thrown the jamb plumb off by 1/4 inch or more.
  • Condensation between double-pane glass. The edge seal has failed and the desiccant is saturated. Once you see fog that wipes on the inside, the insulated glass unit (IGU) is done - it cannot be resealed, only replaced.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range in Pomona
Single window balance / lock replacement $180-$420
IGU (glass-only) replacement $280-$650
Sash or frame repair (Heritage/Estate) $350-$850
Full window replacement (per opening) $650-$1,850
Door hardware / multi-point lock replacement $320-$780
Full window replacement (whole-home, typical 8-15 units) $4,500-$15,000

The range depends on three things: whether we can source the part same-day from our Pomona warehouse, whether the frame needs reframing or just hardware, and whether the unit is on a second story requiring ladder access. Every quote is flat and written before work starts - no change order gets signed until you sign it, and no work proceeds on a change until that happens. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, the price you agree to is the price you pay. Our workmanship on window and door service carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise; if the balance slips or the lock binds inside that window, we make it right.

There’s a short list of things a homeowner can safely check. Verify the lock isn’t blocked by paint buildup. Clean the weep holes at the sill so water drains instead of wicking into the frame. Check that the sash is fully seated in the track before forcing the lock. These cost nothing and rule out the obvious.

What goes wrong past that point: removing a block-and-tackle balance without supporting the sash first lets the weight drop - it’s 15-30 pounds of glass, and the frame is aluminum or vinyl, not forgiving. Replacing an IGU requires breaking the glazing bead without cracking the surround, then rebedding with the right spacing tape and sealant. Multi-point door hardware needs the spindle timed correctly to the cam positions; if it’s off by one tooth, the deadbolt won’t throw and you’ll be buying a second gearbox. We’re background-checked, uniformed, and we bring a documented photo record of what we find and what we do - included, not extra. Measure twice, then we can talk.
