IKO Roofing: The Pomona Owner’s Guide

IKO roof repair in Pomona typically runs $400-$1,800 for standard shingle replacement, and we stock the most common IKO-compatible components on our trucks. Most Pomona homeowners discover a problem after the first Santa Ana wind season, when lifted or missing shingles show up as water stains on ceiling drywall. We’ll walk you through what fails, what it costs to fix right, and what we keep ready for same-day installation.

Rowan Construction Group Pomona is an independent service provider - not affiliated with IKO - and we’ve been sourcing their shingles and compatible parts since we started roofing work here in 2007.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s three main residential lines show up across Pomona’s housing stock: Cambridge Architectural (the laminated dimensional shingle), Marathon Plus 3-Tab (the workhorse on entry-level builds from the 1990s and 2000s), and Dynasty with ArmourZone (the newer, heavier laminate with the nail-strip reinforcement). The part you need depends on which line is on your roof, and mixing series on the same slope is a mismatch that shows from the curb.

Cambridge and Dynasty both use IKO’s FastLock sealant strip, but the strip width and granule pattern differ - a Cambridge replacement tab on a Dynasty field looks like a patch job inside of two seasons. Marathon Plus uses a simpler sealant configuration and a lighter fiberglass mat, so the uplift rating is lower; we’ve seen Marathon roofs near the Pomona Fairplex corridor lose tabs in 45-mph gusts that Cambridge or Dynasty would have held through.

To identify your series, check the shingle back for the printed code (visible on intact tabs or in the attic if you can read the underside), or measure the exposure: Cambridge shows 5 5/8 inches, Dynasty shows 5 7/8 inches, Marathon Plus shows 5 inches even. If you can’t get to the roof safely, we bring a sample book on every estimate and match on-site. OEM IKO shingles are our default; for discontinued colors, we source from IKO’s allocated remaining stock or specify a close-match aftermarket laminate with comparable ASTM D7158 Class H wind resistance.

Signs Your IKO Roofing Is Failing

Signs Your IKO Roofing Is Failing
  • Lifted or cupped shingle tabs. The self-seal asphalt strip has thermally cycled past its adhesion life, common on south and west slopes in Pomona where summer rooftop temperatures hit 160°F. Once the seal breaks, wind gets under the tab and flexes it until the fiberglass mat cracks.
  • Granule loss showing the black asphalt substrate. IKO’s ceramic granules protect the asphalt from UV; when they’re gone, the shingle cooks. We see this accelerate within two miles of the 71 and 60 freeway interchange, where particulate matter seems to scrub granules faster than inland Claremont or La Verne.
  • Cracked shingles in straight lines along the nail row. This is thermal splitting, not wind damage. IKO’s fiberglass mat expands and contracts at a different rate than the asphalt; after 15-20 years in Pomona’s freeze-thaw cycle (yes, it drops below 40°F here in January), the mat fractures at the stress point.
  • Water stains on ceiling drywall, especially after light rain. The leak path is rarely directly above the stain. On IKO Cambridge and Dynasty, the laminated construction can channel water sideways along the shingle layer before it finds a fastener hole or butt joint to drip through.
  • Sagging or soft spots when walking the roof. The shingles may look intact, but the underlayment or plywood deck beneath has failed from chronic moisture. We find this on IKO roofs where the original installer skipped synthetic underlayment and used 15-pound felt, which degrades in Pomona’s UV before the shingles do.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

IKO shingle repair in Pomona runs $400-$1,800 installed, depending on how many squares we’re replacing and whether the deck underneath is sound. A localized repair - one slope, ten to twenty shingles, intact underlayment - sits at the lower end. A slope replacement with deck repair, ice-and-water shield at valleys, and full synthetic underlayment pushes toward the upper end.

Scope Price Range
Localized shingle repair (1-2 damaged areas) $400-$800
Slope replacement with underlayment (1,000-1,500 sq ft) $1,200-$1,800
Full roof replacement, IKO Cambridge or Dynasty $8,000-$20,000

Every repair quote includes removal of damaged material, matching replacement shingles, synthetic underlayment where the original felt is compromised, and new fasteners per IKO’s nailing pattern (typically six nails per shingle in wind zones). We pull permits when the scope requires it, and every job finishes with a documented photo record and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, the price is written before anyone starts - no change proceeds without a signed change order.

There’s a short list of things a homeowner can safely check from the ground or a secured ladder: gutter debris that indicates granule loss, visible missing tabs, or daylight showing through soffit vents that suggests deck sag. Binoculars help. What we don’t recommend is walking the slope yourself. IKO’s laminated shingles have a textured surface that hides soft deck spots, and a 6/12 pitch over a carport in Pomona has sent more than one confident homeowner to urgent care.

Matching the shingle is the other DIY killer. Big-box stores stock a rotating selection of generics; the color batch that matches your eight-year-old Cambridge Brownwood may not exist in retail channels. We carry sample sets for IKO’s current and recently discontinued lines, and we can source allocated stock for colors phased out within the last five years. Measure twice, then we can talk - call (626) 606-1081 and we’ll bring the samples to you.
