Signs Your Bufftech Windows & Doors Is Failing

• Sash drops or won’t stay open. This points to failed coil balances or broken block-and-tackle balance assemblies, which carry the weight of the sash in a double-hung unit. In Pomona’s inland heat, the nylon cords in block-and-tackle systems degrade faster than in coastal climates - we replace them with stainless-steel cable equivalents where possible.
• Lock won’t engage or feels spongy. The keeper (the stationary receiving piece) has shifted due to frame settlement, or the cam lock itself has worn where the zinc casting meets the steel actuator. Bufftech’s pre-2018 cam locks used a softer zinc alloy that cracks under repeated torque.

• Rolling patio door sticks or jumps the track. The tandem roller assemblies have flat-spotted or the axle housing has cracked from repeated impact over the threshold. Bufftech sliding doors use a specific 1-1/4″ or 1-1/2″ roller height depending on vintage; mixing these causes binding or water infiltration.
• Draft along frame or sill, even when closed. Compression weatherstrip has lost its memory, or the pile weatherstrip along the sash meeting rail has flattened. Bufftech’s original wool-pile weatherstrip on 3000 series units from 2012-2015 was particularly prone to compression set in dry heat.
