Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu uses a consistent window and door package across their ADU lineup, but the spec varies by production year and whether the unit shipped to Pomona under the standard or upgraded finish schedule. The window frames are typically aluminum-clad wood with a specific extrusion profile that differs from off-the-shelf Andersen or Milgard by about 3/16 inch in the jamb depth. That 3/16 inch is the gotcha: a standard replacement sash won’t seat properly without modifying the rough opening, which voids the weather-sealing warranty.

Check the interior face of the window frame for a small etched code, usually on the upper right corner of the sash. The prefix tells us the production run; anything starting with “ABD-21” through “ABD-24” uses the same glazing bead and weatherstrip profile. Signs Your Abodu Windows & Doors Is Failing

• Condensation between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit (IGU) seal has failed, allowing moist air into the cavity. Once the desiccant saturates, the fogging becomes permanent and the Low-E coating degrades; the IGU needs replacement, not defogging.
• Door sticks or drags on the threshold. The composite sill cap swells with moisture intrusion, or the adjustable hinges have settled. Abodu doors use a three-point locking system that goes out of alignment if the hinge side drops even 1/8 inch.
• Draft around the frame perimeter. The compression weatherstrip has taken a set and no longer springs back. Pomona’s UV exposure accelerates this; we see it first on south-facing units after about six years.
• Visible cracks in the exterior cladding seam. The aluminum wrap separates at the mitered corners, allowing water behind the cladding. Left alone, the wood substrate rots; we rewrap with break-metal and sealant matched to the original profile.
