DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground. You can check the model tag, measure your rough opening, and confirm whether your pan is cracked all the way through or just surface-scored. You can also shut off the water at the angle stops and test whether the drip stops - if it does, the cartridge is the culprit; if it doesn’t, the valve body is cracked and you’re into wall-opening territory.

Where DIY goes wrong: Ameristar pans are bonded to the subfloor with polyurethane adhesive that requires a heat gun and floor protection to remove without damaging the plywood. The valve cartridges seat with 45 ft-lb of torque - enough to crack the brass body if you over-tighten, which is a full-valve replacement, not a $38 cartridge swap.
