Techo-Bloc Roofing: The Pomona Owner’s Guide

Techo-Bloc roofing components installed in Pomona typically run $600-$2,500 for targeted repairs and $8,000-$20,000 for full system replacement, depending on whether the issue is isolated to the paver-adjacent flashing, membrane integration, or the full substrate. We stock Techo-Bloc-compatible membrane termination bars, drainage scuppers, and TPO integration strips for same-day repair on most residential jobs. Most Pomona owners first notice trouble when water pools where the hardscape meets the roofline after our winter storms, or when the membrane pulls away from the paver coping that Techo-Bloc systems use as a finished edge.

Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc’s roofing-adjacent systems break into two families: the pedestal paver systems (Rooftop, Skyline, and the older Terra 90 series) and the integrated hardscape-to-roof transitions used with their wall and step lines. The critical identifier is the termination profile, stamped with a date code and series letter on the underside of the aluminum bar. Pre-2019 Terra 90 used a 1.5-inch bar with a single weep slot; current Rooftop and Skyline spec a 2-inch bar with dual slots and a deeper drip edge. The membrane attachment also shifted from mechanical fastening to a adhered termination in 2021, so mixing OEM and aftermarket bars across that year boundary creates a channel that holds water against the substrate.

We carry both OEM Techo-Bloc termination hardware and a vetted aftermarket line from OMG Roofing Products that matches the 2021-plus spec. For jobs where the original bar is discontinued, we document the substitution on the written quote and flag it in the photo record so there’s no ambiguity at inspection. Measure twice, then we can talk.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Roofing Is Failing

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Roofing Is Failing
  • Standing water at the paver-to-wall junction. Techo-Bloc pedestal systems rely on a minimum 2% slope to the drain; when the leveling pedestals settle or the membrane beneath them deforms, water finds the low spot and stays there. In Pomona, this usually shows up first on north-facing sections where evaporation is slowest.
  • White chalking or cracking on the TPO membrane where it meets the paver edge. This is UV degradation accelerated by reflected heat off the concrete pavers, a condition we see regularly on south and west exposures above 800 square feet. The membrane is still watertight until the cracks reach the reinforcement scrim, but the window is shorter than most owners expect.
  • Pedestals that rock or click underfoot. The self-leveling head has worn through its gasket or the base has lost contact with the protection mat. Left alone, the paver corners chip and the point load transfers to the membrane below.
  • Efflorescence blooming on the paver faces near the roof edge. Water is migrating through the joint sand, carrying salts from the bedding layer up to the surface. This means the drainage mat is clogged or the slope has reversed.
  • Soft spots in the substrate when you press near a drain or scupper. The protection board has absorbed water and compressed, which means the primary membrane has been compromised for some time. This is past the point of spot repair in most cases.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range in Pomona Typical Timeline
Termination bar and membrane re-flash (localized) $600-$1,400 1 day
Pedestal replacement with membrane patch (section) $1,200-$2,500 1-2 days
Full Techo-Bloc-compatible roof replacement $8,000-$20,000 3-5 days

The range depends on three things: how much of the substrate is sound, whether we can match the existing paver color (Techo-Bloc runs batch variations, and we source from their Ontario yard when possible), and whether the job requires a full tear-off or qualifies for recover under Pomona’s amended Title 24. Every quote is flat, written, and includes the photo record, the disposal fee, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise. Under Clause 1, that price is locked before anyone starts.

There’s a safe middle ground here. A homeowner can walk the roof, note the pedestal stability, and photograph any chalking or cracking for documentation. What you cannot safely do is lift pavers to inspect the membrane or attempt to reseal a termination bar. The pavers weigh 25-30 pounds each, the membrane is easily punctured by a misdirected tool, and a failed seal on a flat roof in Pomona’s occasional heavy rain becomes a liability issue fast. We also see DIY attempts where the wrong sealant was used, silicone on TPO, which voids any remaining warranty and requires full replacement of the affected section. If you’re unsure whether it’s a pedestal issue or a membrane issue, call (626) 606-1081 and we’ll sort it on a free estimate. Grant Rowan and our crew have handled Techo-Bloc integrations from the Fairplex corridor up toward Phillips Ranch, and we know the local inspection points.
