Grant Rowan, Owner

I started this company in 2007 after watching too many homeowners get a verbal “ballpark” that somehow doubled by final invoice. Seventeen years and four thousand projects later, the rule hasn’t changed: no work starts without a written price and a written scope. I still review every major quote before it goes out, and I still drive to job sites when a customer has a question the crew can’t answer. My specialty is the numbers, specifically making sure they don’t move once you sign. I keep a 2009 photo on my desk of the first kitchen we ever gutted in Pomona, back when Diamond Bar Road was still two lanes. The cabinets were KraftMaid, the countertops were a laminate I wouldn’t spec today, and the homeowner still sends me a Christmas card. That’s the part no spreadsheet tracks.

Marcus T., Lead Technician, Kitchen & Bath

Marcus has been with us eight years, starting as an apprentice the week after he finished his carpentry certification at Mt. SAC. She has a five-year-old who thinks her mom “fixes houses for a living,” which Elena says is close enough.

Darnell K., Service Coordinator

Darnell answers the phone when you call, schedules the crew, and makes sure the photo record from your job lands in your inbox before the trucks leave your driveway. He’s been with Rowan four years, and before that he coordinated logistics for a commercial concrete outfit, so he knows what happens when materials don’t show up on time. His specialty is the pre-job checklist, the seventeen-point review that confirms permit status, material delivery, and crew assignment before we ever knock on your door. Darnell is the reason we can say a live person answers calls 24/7, because he built the rotation that makes it true. He plays in a Pomona adult softball league and has a detailed opinion about every public works project in the city, which he’ll share if you ask.

Sophia R., Apprentice, General Construction

Sophia is in her second year with us, rotating through every trade we offer before she picks a specialty. Right now she’s with Elena learning roof tear-offs, last month she was with Marcus on a bathroom in Phillips Ranch, and next month she’ll shadow our paver crew on a driveway job near Ganesha Hills. She’s OSHA-10 certified and working toward her contractor’s license, which means she studies code books on lunch breaks and asks questions that keep the veterans honest.
